It is necessary to approach interior design with full responsibility, because every detail matters. The editors WANT is interested in trends in this direction. On the Internet there are a lot of different information both about color and in terms of design solutions. Therefore, in order to deal with all the nuances, we decided to talk with real professionals in our field.
About trends in interior design, new solutions and your favorite interior, – read in our interview with the founders of Brick-Brot Studio Semyon Tkachuk and Mikhail Nikolin.
We live in a time when everyone wants to be on the hipp. Is it the same in the design world? The trendier, the better?
HYIP is a very temporary process. Everywhere there are people who want to catch this wave and use it for their own purposes. We believe that such things should heed, but not to become their hostage.
As for trends, this is a set of techniques that are currently popular in the world. They are definitely worth adhering to, but if you blindly follow them, then there is a chance not to create something new, something your own. What may not be known throughout the world, but will be an individual author’s handwriting that will be remembered.
And what are the trends of recent years to your liking?
We are fans of modern style, which was created by Hemi Aion (Jaime Hayon). Digital baroque, as the author calls it, over the past couple of years has rapidly gained popularity, and in 2018 you can say “captured” Salone del Mobile in Milan. Smooth lines, complex deep colors and a bit of a “childish” view of the world are a few words to describe this style.
We also draw inspiration from extravagant object design through the eyes of Oki Sato. It is difficult to imagine more laconic and minimalistic furniture, which can be an art object at the same time. These are just a couple of examples, but on our Instagram and Facebook we often highlight the creators who inspire and amaze us, not only in design but also in art in general, so welcome 🙂
What will never, never go out of fashion (except “beige”)?
If we consider that beige out of fashion, then, most likely, there is nothing eternal. But at the same time, nothing disappears anywhere. Everything evolves, flows, transforms, rethinks and comes new and fresh. Most likely, the beige will be back.
What furniture models do not lose their relevance?
Furniture created during the period of the Mid-century modernism (50-60 years of the twentieth century). Many of these models are familiar to everyone, but not everyone knows that it was invented 70 years ago. The originals are sold today, but also serve as a source of inspiration for modern top furniture companies around the world.
Designers of that period began to focus on real needs and human perception, the main purpose of which was comfortable and convenient living conditions. Perhaps this gave him such an impetus in the development to this day.
We do not recommend doing this process completely independently. The visual component is the tip of the iceberg. There is a huge part of technical problems, the solution of which cannot be found on the Internet.
What should be inspired by a person who decided to independently come up with an apartment design? And what should be considered?
We have already covered this on our Facebook page. But in these resources you will not find specific tips for your home. With their help, you can achieve the so-called effect of the “satiated eye”, filling yourself with visually pleasing images. True, it will take a lot of time. It is rather a lifestyle. But you can look at the color combinations, the styles close to you, the ideas you want to apply in order to more correctly set the task for the designer.

Tell us a little about the studio. What year did you start working? How did you decide to open Brick Brot?
We create spaces for happiness. Our mission: to influence the mood of a person through the space that surrounds him. We strongly oppose killing animals for decoration. For example, if you would like only leather furniture in the house, or taxidermy stuffed on the wall, then we are not on the way. We will offer humane counterparts and alternatives when creating your interior, and no animals will suffer.
Began its activities in 2016. The main direction is interior design of residential and commercial premises. Architectural education gives us the opportunity to do different things – from door handles to large architectural ensembles. The design simply helps to open the doors to the world of creativity, to create a trusting relationship with a potential customer, to show your level of creativity and non-standard thinking through real objects, but we have plans not only interiors.
